Every follower of Jesus will know the words Jesus spoke to his disciples on a mountain in Galilee just before he ascended. We call it the Great Commission. The task was to “go and make disciples.”(Matthew 28:18). So, it is a fair question to ask ourselves, “Are we making disciples?” It would also be fair to ask, “When was the last time you made a disciple?”
The truth is that we know how to conduct Sunday meetings in a building and how to run a Bible Study, but we are rarely engaged in making disciples. The closest we get to it is bringing a friend to listen to an evangelist. Very often the evangelist will lead people to make a decision, but only a few of those will end up as disciples – let alone disciple makers. That’s why I want to commend this book. I think it is a thoroughly Biblical, practical way to shift
The habits and tools provide by this book have been developed and honed in a western post-Christian culture and represent principles learned in a very effective growing group of disciple makers and church planters.
The value of a book can only be measured by the degree to which it changes the way we think, speak and act. This book works best when the 21-day journey is shared by two or more people reading, practicing, and then sharing their insights and experiences with one another. Don’t just give it to someone. Do it WITH a friend or friends. Then you’ll know how to do it with new disciples.
